Obituary of Ross M. Westbrook

Ross M. Westbrook, a long-time resident of Lodi, passed away in Lodi on September 5, 2007 at the age of 72. Mr. Westbrook was born in Lompoc, California on May 28, 1935 to Ross A. and Marvel C. Westbrook. His family moved to Sacramento where he grew up and attended Christian Brothers School. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1953-1957. In 1957, he married Irma Bacani of Lodi. They moved to Lodi in 1965. Mr. Westbrook was a superintendent in international construction, having worked for Morrison-Knudson and Bechtel. He was a member of the Lodi Italian Club and St. Anne?s Catholic Church. He was an avid rock collector, "rock hound", enjoying hiking and fishing along the way. He worked with furniture and woodworking, and he loved to ride his bike, but most importantly, he loved to spend time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, and he will be so missed. Mr. Westbrook is survived by his wife, Irma Westbrook of Lodi; three sons, Ross (Elizabeth) Westbrook of Pleasanton, Peter (Colleen Lawrence) Westbrook of Lockeford and Perry Westbrook of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren, Christopher, Oliver, Warren, Belinda and Isabella Westbrook; brother-in-law, Mike Lapenta of Lodi; niece, Rita (Chris) Neudeck of Stockton; nephews, Robert Lapenta of Lodi, Mark Freeman and Clay Freeman; great niece and nephew, Elise and Michael Neudeck; extended family, Sabrina DeBrito and Brandon DeBrito. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross A. and Marvel C. Westbrook; sister, Marilyn Mendenhall; nephew, Westbrook Freeman mother-in-law, Enrica Bacani and sister-in-law, Lisa Lapenta. Friends are invited to visit at Lodi Funeral Home on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Chapel services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with committal to immediately follow. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Westbrook's name to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204-1953.
