Obituary of Rae Vaughan "Elsa" Pearce
Please share a memory of Rae to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
(Elsa) Rae Vaughan Pearce. Rae Pearce passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on September 20, 2007 in Lodi. Rae was born on January 1, 1940, the first baby born in Lodi that year. She was always proud that she was Lodi's New Year Baby of 1940. She attended Lodi schools and graduated from high school in 1957. Rae graduated from San Francisco State with a degree in psychology and then worked in the City for two years before she married and returned to Lodi. She lived in Nevada and Hawaii for a few years, but spent most of her years in Lodi. She loved to read and write and was very interested in politics and collected political memorabilia. She also volunteered at The Salvation Army in earlier years. Rae is survived by her children, David (Sue) Pearce and Jennifer (Howard) Kanter; grandchildren, Katie and Michael Pearce and Benjamin and Alex Kanter; sister Rosemary (Gary) Anderson; nephew, Michael (Debbie) Collins and their children, Joey, Ashley, Kristen and Kelsey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Berniece M. and George L. Vaughan. We loved her and hope that she has found peace. A private service will be held by her family. There is no visitation, and committal is private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Rae's name to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1388, Lodi, CA 95241.
