Mr. Michael "Mike" Eugene Sumstine of Victor and former resident of Lodi went to be with the Lord Tuesday September 25, 2007 surrounded by his family in his home at the age of 57. Mike was born March 9, 1950 in Akron, Ohio to Ralph and Rosemary "Angel" Sumstine. On February 7, 1975 he made his commitment to serve Christ and has been a member of Zion Christian Fellowship, currently of Lodi, California for over 25 years. In dedication to his pastor and church congregation, he served on Zion?s church board and recently was a Board Member of Father?s House (a ministry for men just out of prison). He made a living for his family in the construction trade and was a self-employed contractor for many years. Mike has been an active member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association since 1985, was elected a Local Chapter President for several terms and has been a Lay Evangelist for this ministry for over 10 years. Mike?s past history led to his involvement in motorcycle ministry and eventually gave way to his call to full-time ministry to bikers in December of 1993. He was Ordained under Outreach Ministries International on September 28, 1997, where he was sponsored as a ?Home Missions Motorcycle Missionary? to date. He was the founder and Co-Director with his wife, Sherri Sumstine of HIS PLACE Food Distribution and Care Center. "HIS PLACE", under Outreach Ministries International, was established on April 21, 2007 in Victor, California. He is survived by loving wife of 32 years, Sherri Sumstine of Victor; a son Michael Sumstine of Fort Bragg; a daughter Stephanie Sumstine of Victor; mother Angel Rose of Rialto; Step-mother Virla Sumstine of Tucson, Arizona; 2 sisters, Sharon Durham of Stockton; Judy Tucker of Medford, OR; 6 brothers, Ted Rose, Jr. of Sacramento; Dewey Rose of Las Vegas, NV; Mark Sumstine of Phoenix, AZ; Matt Sumstine of Kapolei, HI; Chris Sumstine of Bristow, VA; and Rick Sumstine of Sedona, AZ. He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Sumstine and father in-law Ira C. Smith in 2004, step-father William ?Ted? Rose in 2005 and brother in-law George Good in 2006, A chapel service will be held Monday October 1, 2007, 2:00pm at the Lodi Funeral Home, followed by a private interment. Visitation will be held Sunday 12:00-6:00 p.m. at the Lodi Funeral Home Memorial Contributions can be sent to His Place C/O Mike Sumstine Memorial Fund, 715 S. Central Ave. Lodi, California 95240
