Obituary of Herbert Fried

Herbert Fried passed away on September 25, 2007 in Lodi at the age of 72. Herb was born in Borodino, Romania on April 24, 1935. At age five, his family moved to Munderlot, Germany. They came to New York State in 1951 when Herb was fifteen. They then moved to Bakersfield, eventually settling in Lodi. In 1961, he went to work for Guild Wine Company. He worked there for 34 years until he retired. Herb was an avid bowler. He refereed and coached soccer. He liked fishing and camping. He loved playing bingo and going to Jackson, Tahoe and Reno. He met and married the love of his life, Carol Fried, in 1966. They were married 41 years. Herb is survived by his wife, Carol; one daughter, Melissa Fried of Lodi; two sons, Robert Fried of Lodi and Richard Fried of Stockton; three granddaughters, Christianne and Jessica Fried, Kayla Rapier and one grandson; Brandon Fried; sister, Milla Schill of Pleasant Hill and two nieces. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Emilie Fried and his brother-in-law, Ernst Schill. There was no visitation, and services and committal were private.
