Obituary of Elbert "Al" Watson

Mr. Elbert Joseph "Al" Watson, of Lodi, passed away on October 14, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born on September 10, 1927, in Los Angeles, CA to Jake and Velda Watson. Mr. Watson served his country in the U. S. Navy for several years before becoming a mechanic. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt and had quite the green thumb, especially when it came to tomatoes and bell peppers. Mr. Watson was a member of American Legion Post #22 in Lodi as well as the San Joaquin County Historical Society. He was a wonderful man, a loving husband, and a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Marlene Watson; his children: Jim (Diana) Watson, Bill Watson, Peggy (Bill) Bernier, and Jodi (Harold) Gianelli all of Stockton; step-sons: Douglas Weesner of Michigan and Alan Weesner of Lodi; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and brothers: David, Jack, Hubert, and Harry Watson. He was preceded in death by his sister: Shirley Murray. Friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, October 17, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held on Thursday, October 18, at 10 a.m. at Lodi Funeral Home with committal to follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elbert's name to the San Joaquin County Historical Society, P.O. Box 30, Lodi, CA 95241.
