Milton George Klipfel, a long-time resident of Lodi, passed away in Lodi on October 26, 2007 at the age of 89. Mr. Klipfel was born in Ashley, South Dakota on May 13, 1918 to Emil and Beulah Klipfel. His family moved first to Florida and then to Lodi when he was a youngster. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp for six years during WWII. Mr. Klipfel worked in law enforcement for the Sheriff's Department and then for the California Highway Patrol as a motorcycle officer for over 35 years. He later went on to work at Wells Fargo Bank in their financing department. He enjoyed scuba diving in his early years, and he competed nationally as a marksman. He was an avid golfer and reader as well as a craftsman in furniture making. He also was a pilot of small aircraft, having owned a plane. Later he owned a motor coach and traveled extensively with his wife throughout the United States. He was passionate in his Bible studies. He was a member of Big Valley Bible Church and S.I.R.S. Mr. Klipfel is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Claire Klipfel of Lodi; two children, Brad W. Klipfel of Stockton and Nanette (Rick) Wiesner of Lodi; three grandchildren, Ben, Heidi and Hannah Wiesner and two step-sons, Loren Shively of Stockton and Kenneth (Carol) Shively of Gold River. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Klipfel, two brothers, Miles and Wayne Klipfel and one sister, Shirley Lamb. Friends are invited to visit Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gene Wilburn officiating. Committal will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Klipfel's name to Big Valley Bible Church, 226 Poplar, Lodi, CA 95240.
