Obituary of John L. Doucette

Mr. John L. Doucette of Stockton passed away Wednesday November 21, 2007 in a Stockton hospital at the age of 86. Mr. Doucette was born March 6, 1921 in Dagget Brook, Minnesota to Ovilla and Margaret Doucette. Mr. Doucette owned and operated Acme Saw in Stockton for many years before retiring in 1989. In 1948 he married the love of his life Vera Gutierrez-Doucette, settled in Stockton, and together they raised their family of six. Mr. Doucette was a long time member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Elkhorn Country Club. Mr. Doucette was a Merchant Marine and WWII Veteran. He was avid golfer, and sports fan. He greatly enjoyed snow skiing and water skiing and in later years watching his grandchildrens various sporting events. He will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Vera Doucette of Stockton; 3 sons, John Doucette and wife Mary of Lodi; Thomas Doucette and wife Barbara of Lodi; Daniel Doucette of Elk Grove; 3 daughters, Pegi Schaefer and husband Steve of Chico; Diana Howen and husband Richard of Lodi; Michelle Simon and husband Chris of Lodi; 3 brothers, Gerald Doucette of Roseville; Marcel Doucette of Dos Palos; James Doucette of Tulare; 8 grandchildren, Matt, his wife Christy, Libby Schaefer, Jennifer Hsiao, Chris Howen, John Paul, Marc, Reed and Lauren Doucette, 2 great grandchildren, Stephen and Clare Schaefer. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Boyd and Donald Doucette. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday November 28, 2007, 10:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church, followed by graveside service at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of Donor's Choice.
