Obituary of Emma Jones

Emma Jones of Lodi passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at her residence surrounded by her loving family at the age of 74. Emma was born November 30, 1932 in Peterstal, Romania to Karl and Regina Himmrich. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1951 at the age of 19. Emma married Charles Jones in 1955. She worked for the Sharpe Army Depot in Lathrop for 26 years before retiring in 1994. She was a long time member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Emma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren as well as tending to her garden, planting flowers, crocheting, and knitting. She will be best remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend. Emma will be dearly missed. She is survived by 2 sons, Brian Jones and wife Lois of Jackson; Keith Jones and wife Jeannie of Lodi; 2 daughters, Denise Nieves and husband Juan of Lodi; Cynthia Thomas of Castro Valley; 1 brother, Helmuth Himmrich (Angela) of Lodi, 3 sisters, Elvira Beckwith (Jim) of Modesto; Elsie Mounce (Leland) of Galt; Anna Farley (John) of Lodi; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Jones in 2001, 3 brothers Emil, Hans and Emanuel, and 3 sisters Lena, Melitta and Hilda. . A chapel service will be held Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 10:00 am at Lodi Funeral Home, followed by interment at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday 12:00-8:00pm at Lodi Funeral Home.
