Obituary of Florence Lena Smith

Mrs. Florence Lena Smith of Lodi, passed away peacefully Monday November 26, 2007 at her residence at the age of 94. Mrs. Smith was born March 29, 1913 in Speary, Oklahoma to John and Mildred Kriley. In 1938 she married the love of her life, the late Rev. Floyd Smith, and together settled in Portland, Maine and started their family. Mrs. Smith was an Elementary School Teacher for many years before retiring in 1977. Alongside her husband she volunteered her talents and contributed to the construction of several churches throughout the United States as well as Maranatha Flights International, a non-profit Christian volunteer program which builds churches in foreign soils. She was well versed and world traveled, collecting rocks, sand and shells from all over the world. She also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, sewing and spending time with family and friends. She will be best remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by 2 daughters, Carol and husband Dr. Roland Nakata of Lodi; Marcia and husband Dr. George Chung of Redlands; 1 brother, John Kriley of Loma Linda; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Kimberly and Kaitlyn Nakata of Lodi; Timothy Teichman of Sunnyvale; Lori Wilber of Redlands; Walter Teichman of Eugene, Oregon; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years Rev. Floyd Smith in 2005, and a sister, Lahoma June Hartman in 2007. A graveside service will be held Friday November 30, 2007, 2:30pm at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday 12:00-8:00 pm at Lodi Funeral Home.
