Obituary of Gus John Anagnos

Gus John Anagnos of Lodi passed away Friday December 14, 2007 in a Lodi hospital surrounded by his family at the age of 77. Mr. Anagnos was born September 25, 1930 in Rizes Tripolis, Greece to John and Harriet Anagnos. He arrived in Lodi in 1951. From 1951-1957 he worked at Lodi Super Mold Corp. In 1957-1981, with his brother Angelo he operated Payless Market in Lodi. From 1981-1998 he was partners with his brothers in Sunwest Liquors from where he retired. In 1962 Mr. Anagnos married the love of his life, Popi Maneta-Anagnos, and together they settled in Lodi and started their family. Throughout his life he was a local Vinyardist and farmer for many years. He was a member of St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church. Gus enjoyed returning home to Greece, making wine, and hosting Easter holiday feasts. He will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Popi Anagnos of Lodi; 2 daughters, H. Tina Anagnos and husband Fredrick Selk of Alameda; Pam Anagnos of Escalon; 3 brothers, Louis J. Anagnos, Angelo J. Anagnos (Olympia) and James J. Anagnos all of Lodi; 2 grandchildren, Konstantinos and Gabriela Selk Anagnos of Alameda, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Spiro J. Anagnos and a sister in-law, Angela Anagnos. A Trisagion service will be held Sunday December 16, 2007, 6:00pm at Lodi Funeral. A chapel service will be held Monday 10:00am at Lodi Funeral Home, followed by interment at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday 12:00-7:00pm.
