Obituary of Philip Charles Monte
Manteca resident, Philip Charles Monte passed away Saturday, July 6th in Stockton, California at the age of 77. He was born in Hayward, California to parents Phil Perry and Marjorie (Fields) Monte. He married the love of his life, Patricia Ann (Estrada) Monte and they shared 45 happy years together until her passing in 2017.
Phil had a passion for railroads and owned a business building and salvaging tracks, and contracting sales. Even without graduating high school, Phil’s strong work ethic and ambitious nature led him to be immensely successful in the railroad industry and provide a comfortable life for his family. He collected classic train engines, model trains, guns, and loved classic cars - his 1956 Buick was his “baby.” Phil was very caring and loving. Though he could be particular about things, he took the time to share his knowledge and experience with his children. He will be truly missed.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia Monte, and his sister, Diane. He is survived by his children, Philip (Gloria), Anthony, and Albert (Chanelle); grandchildren, Lola and Kai; and his sister, Paula.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave., in Lodi. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 19th at 10:00 a.m., also at Lodi Funeral Home, followed by interment at Lodi Memorial Cemetery, 5750 E. Pine St., in Lodi, where Phil and Patricia will be laid to rest together.
