Obituary of Irene Lillian Wasik
Mrs. Irene Lillian Wasik, lifelong resident of Victor passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023 at the age of 98 at home with family present. Irene was born April 10, 1925 in Lodi California to Albert and Bertha Nies.
Irene was always willing to volunteer. She was involved most of her life with family, church and community organizations such as the First United Methodist Church, Sunday School, plays, being the organist and treasurer. She was president of the Victor School PTA when they celebrated their 50th anniversary, and treasurer of the Alpine Victor 4H. She was also treasurer of the Gluckstadt Colonies Research Association, and the treasurer for the Germans From Russia, Lodi chapter. She did all of this while working full-time for 30 years as an accountant in the produce business.
Irene and her husband Anthony loved to travel visiting children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In later years, being keen on the iPad, she kept up watching her family grow. We are thankful for her immersion into the family genealogy. The detailed research and numerous pictures will be passed on for generations.
Irene is survived by her loving sons Stephen and Dennis Wasik; grandchildren Brian, Isaac and Elijah Wasik; great grandchildren, Hannah Micaiah and Titus Wasik, and Aleah and Bodi Jardin.
She was preceded in death by husband of 61 years, Anthony Wasik, her son David, daughter Patrica, and sister Ethel Nietschke.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 15th at Lodi Funeral Home 725 S. Fairmont Ave., followed by interment at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Ln., in Lodi.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Lodi Chapter, Germans from Russia Historical Society.
