Obituary of Carl A. Elkins
Carlos Abraham Elkins, known to most as Carl, entered Heavenwith loved ones at his side on Saturday July 22, 2023, at the young age of 91. Carl was born on February 12, 1932, to Homer and Roma Elkins in Meadow Fork, West Virginia.
Carl truly Lived his life to the fullest. He graduated from Scott High School in 1950 before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his Service for our Country that he loved, he attended Taft College in Bakersfield, California. It was in Bakersfield that he met and married his wife Phillis and with their two sons, Phillip and Michael, they began their life together. Carl had a love for farming and Agriculture and moved his family to Lodi. In 1976 he met his business partner Leeman Mettler, and together they formed Delta Packing Company and collaborated with growers packing Cherries and wine grapes throughout the state of California. The relationships Carl made throughout his life with Family, Friends and Growers meant the world to him. He met his life partner Renate in 2002 and together they travelled the world and lived their best life. Carl was a well-respected, humble and kind soul. He enjoyed helping people, working, being outdoors and putting together deals. He never hesitated in taking chances. Carl will forever be remembered as a true gentleman and will be missed by all those that knew him.
Carl is survived by his life partner Renate Hambrook; Son Phillip Folks, Daughter in law Carol Folks; Grandson Taylor Folks; Brother Ralph Elkins (Marilyn); Sister Genevieve Smith; Brother Emory Elkins (Nancy); Brother Carlile Elkins (Rhonda); and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Carl is predeceased by his wife Phillis Elkins; Son Michael Folks; Parents Roma and Homer Elkins and Brother Chester Elkins. Carl had a special place in his heart for his family, manyfriends, and colleagues that he worked with throughout his life.
A visitation will be held Wednesday August 23rd from 3-6pm at Lodi Funeral home. Graveside Services will be on Thursday August 24th at 10am at Lodi Park Cemetery with a luncheon following. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity benefiting Children.
