Obituary of Sisaltina Silva Pires
Stockton resident, Sisaltina Silva Pires passed away Saturday, July 1st at home with her family at her side.She was 85.
Sisaltina was born January 3, 1938 on the island of Terceira in the Acores to parents Joao C. and Maria Julia Pires, and came to the United States in 1974. She was a wonderful wife and mother who loved nothing more than having a full house and being surrounded by family. Sisaltina was a parishioner of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Galt and a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Society in Thornton. She was a prayer warrior and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and baking - she will be especially remembered for her sweet bread. Most of all, she was devoted to her family and loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sisaltina was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Machado, and her beloved husband of 52 years, Francisco C. Pires, who passed in 2010. She is survived by her children, Frank Pires (Mary), Maria Silva (Oldemiro), Tony Pires (Barbara), and Ana Solis (Armando); 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Maria Julia Silva, Vielmina Rocha, Fatima Pires, and Merces Morais; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11th at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave., in Lodi. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12th at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, 950 S. Lincoln Way in Galt, followed by a committal at Galt-Arno Cemetery, 14180 Joy Dr., in Galt.
