Obituary of Janice McNeilly
Janice McNeilly passed away in her sleep in Maryland on October 17, 2022 at the age of 95.
She was born and raised in San Jose, the only child of Hilda and Ethelbert (Bert) Beecroft. After graduating from San Jose State University, Janice taught business classes at Mariposa High School, where she met her future husband, Daryl. They were married in 1950 in San Jose.
The McNeillys moved to Lodi in 1960, after living and working briefly in San Jose, Sparks NV, Cotati, Ripon, Salinas, Hollister, Chico and Stockton. Following many years living on a farm west of Lodi, they moved to Woodbridge soon after Daryl retired in 1985.
Janice found great pleasure in being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was an
accomplished pianist, and she kept the books during Daryl’s 43-year career with the Ralston Purina Co. Both were very involved in the 4-H program and served as leaders for a decade. Later they
were active supporters of the San Joaquin Historical Museum and Micke Grove Zoo.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years in 1998. She is survived by her daughter Caryl McNeilly and son-in-law, Robert (Skip) Williamson of Rockville MD; sister-in-law Beatrice McNeilly of Stockton; nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be no memorial service at her request. Donations in her memory may be made to the San Joaquin Historical Museum (Daryl McNeilly Building) at sanjoaquinhistory.org, or to the charity of your choice.
In Loving Memory
