Obituary of Carl Junior Troupe

Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carl Junior Troupe peacefully made his blessed journey to heaven to be with our Lord and Savior on March 29, 2022, at his home in Lodi California, with his wife Kay and precious family friend Claudia Woltkamp by his side.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen Troupe, daughter Christine, son in law Jon, stepdaughters Peggy, Penny and Gail, and many wonderful Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Colleen, daughter Carleen, and son Douglas.

Carl was born on August 31, 1928, in Tacoma, Washington, and spent many wonderful days growing up in Dupont Washington. He moved to California, but attended his annual Dupont Reunion for many years, and stayed in touch with his lifelong friends and family in the Dupont area throughout his life. He served in the Navy from September 1945 to September of 1949, worked at the Port, and was a salesman for many years. He became an Ordained Minister in 2001 and served as a Pastor and associate Pastor in churches in California as well as Washington state. He was a volunteer Chaplain at the Mason County Hospital in Shelton, Washington for several years, until returning to California in 2016, at the age of 87.

Carl enjoyed hunting and made his last Elk hunting trip in Washington in his early 80’s with his dear friend Steve. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and it was very easy to laugh deeply in his company. He had a beautiful singing voice and would often sing hymns in the car and his voice beautifully sailed across many churches. He enjoyed watching westerns and game shows, playing a good game of Uno, gardening, and was a member of Berea Baptist Church. Carl and wife Kay were daily patrons of the Hollywood Café in Lodi, CA, and the owners and staff became a beloved part of their family.  He had a deep love of Jesus and was always willing to share his own story of redemption with those who were struggling and led many precious souls to Jesus. He will be missed deeply by his loved ones, but we may all take comfort from one of his own sermons: “Beloved, when we need guidance, food, protection, or comfort, let us be like David and look beyond the hills to Jehovah God, for the Lord is our Shepperd.”

Visitation will be held at the Lodi Funeral Home, 725 South Fairmont Avenue, Lodi California, on April 6, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

A graveside Celebration of Life will be officiated by Mr. Tom Seesing at the Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA, on April 6, 2022, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The service will be followed by a gathering of friends and family for food and fellowship at Berea Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 3:00 p.m.

Memorial Donations may be made in Carl’s name to the Berea Baptist Church, at 4957 Quashnick Rd, Stockton CA, 95212, in support of their ongoing mission to lead souls to Jesus, and their hospitality fund which brings comfort to so many families in their times of need.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff and members of Berea Baptist Church and the Hollywood Café for their loving support of Carl and Kay.
