Obituary of Ron Wilkins

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, Ronnie (Ron) Wilkins passed away unexpectedly and quietly in his sleep. Ron was born to Robb & Marguerite Wilkins on April 11, 1937 in San Diego, CA. In 1956 at 18 years of age, Ron was signed to a contract with Pittsburgh Pirates. As a switch-hitter, Ron pitched and played outfield, and was one of the most sought after high-school baseball players in the nation. Ron was considered one of the finest baseball prospects to ever come out of the San Diego Area. Ron played on several All-Star Teams and was selected most valuable and most popular player in 1958. Although Ron played baseball, his hobby and true love was playing golf. Ron turned that hobby into a profession which earned him several accolades; including being inducted into the Half Century Club of Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA). Ron was considered a class "A" PGA member. Ron became a member of Woodbridge Country Club in 2001 where he was on the course every day. Ron was married to Martha Daniels and Helen Williams prior to finding the love of his life, Jackie Katzakian. Ron is survived by his love and soul-mate of 22 years, Jackie Katzakian; his five loving children, Wendi, Leigh, David, Stephanie, and Natalie; his four step-children, Cynthia, Jeannine, Judy and Ross; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ron's Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am at Woodbridge Country Club, November 20, 2021.
