Obituary of Doris Barbara Ehlert

Doris B. Ehlert,age 95, longtime resident of Stockton, CA, passed into eternal life peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021. She was born in Menno, South Dakota on April 3, 1925 to Helen and Adolph Frasch. The family moved to Remsen, Iowa where she graduated from high school as the only girl in her class. She married DeWayne (Dewey) Ehlert on August 6, 1951 in Storm Lake, Iowa. They were married 60 years until his death in 2011. The Ehlerts moved across the country many times as Dewey pursued his 45 year career with New York Life Insurance. Doris is survived by daughters Tami (David) Marek of Shoreview, MN; Leslie (Rick) James of Minden, NV; and David of Stockton. Also survived by 5 grandchildren: Katharine (Mike) Jones; Matthew (Tovah) Marek; William, Patrick and Andrew Ehlert; and 4 great grandchildren, Natalie and Nolan Jones and Eliana and Dane Marek. Doris loved to play the piano, travel and follow her favorite sports teams— the S.F. Giants, the Sacramento Kings and University of the Pacific basketball. In her later years she could be found playing Rummikub with her family and enjoying a Starbuck’s Frappuccino. She will be greatly missed for her heart, caring and laughter. A private family burial will take place at Buena Vista Memorial Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
